How to Volunteer at Three D Radio
Three D Radio is 100% volunteer-run, both on and off air. Our station exists thanks to the time, skills and energy of volunteers who support community radio in many different ways.
You’re welcome to tune in, attend events and get a feel for what Three D Radio is all about before deciding to get involved.
DO I NEED TO BE A MEMBER TO VOLUNTEER?
Yes. Once you decide to volunteer, you’ll need to become a current member of the Progressive Music Broadcasting Association (PMBA), the incorporated association that operates Three D Radio.
PMBA membership is required for all volunteers, on and off air. It allows you to access station facilities and take part in how the station is run.
OFF-AIR VOLUNTEERING
Alongside our volunteer announcers, there are many off-air roles that keep Three D Radio running behind the scenes. Some roles are highly skilled, while others are easy to learn — there are lots of ways to get involved.
We regularly welcome volunteers to help with:
- Production and broadcasting support
- Photography, video and sound engineering
- Administration and reception
- Website content and social media
- Events, fundraising and station activities
Volunteering is a great way to gain real-world experience, build skills, or simply support a community you care about.
To get involved off air, complete the Off-Air Volunteer Application Form.
ON-AIR BROADCASTING
All Three D Radio announcers are volunteers. If you’re interested in becoming an on-air broadcaster, we offer broadcaster training at select times throughout the year.
We also run Elevate Radio, a broadcast training program for people aged 18–30 who live, work or study in Adelaide’s eastern suburbs. The program typically runs two intakes per year, includes compulsory training and weekly live broadcasts, and is delivered in partnership with the City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters.
Please note that demand for broadcaster training is high. In line with our strategic plan, Three D Radio prioritises people who have been under-represented or excluded from traditional media spaces.
To be considered for on-air opportunities, complete the On-Air Volunteer Application Form.
